What is GERD disease?

GERD is also called Gasteroesophageal Disease refers to symptoms or mucosal damaging resulting from the abnormal retrograde movment of gastric contents from the stomach into esophagus .acid repalace happens because a valve at the end of your esophagus 
The lower esophageal sphinter not close properly when foods arrieve at your stomach, flows backup through your esophagus in to your moth , acid tase feel sour 
gerd is a persistent issue that can significantly impact your quality life 

Symptoms of GERD (Gasteroesophageal Disease)

the GERD symptoms vary of diffrent condition but most common symptoms are..
1- A burning sensation in the chest,after eating which may be worse at night
2- Sour and bitter-tasting acid reflux into your mouth 
3- Difficulty in swallowing feeling of food being stuck in throat 
4- Chest pain might associated with GERD somtimes can be severe
5- Sore throat and hoarseness
6- vomiting

many things can make it more likely that you will have GERD
>Beingh overweight- exess body weight can increase abdominal pressure pushing acid up to into the esophagus 
>during pregnancy- hormonal changes abdominal pressure during pregnancy can cause GERD
>delay empty of the stomach (gastroparesis)
> connective tissue disease such as rheumatoid arthiritis lupus ...etc
>smoking- smoking can impair the function of les and increase acid production
>easting unhygenic junk foods ,fatty fried foods
>eating to much 
> certain medication 

GERD pathophysiology ?

-When the foods enter the esophagus 
-lower esophageal sphinter relaxex
- allows the food enter in the stomach 
- due to some reason it dysfunction and the acid flow back 
-due to continuous backflow the esophagus cause irritation 
- Due to irritation the secretion gets reflux 

Managing GERD (Gastroesophageal disease)?

Effective manegment of gasteroesophageal often involved your life style changes certain medication and in some cases surgery. Here some idea to consider-

1- changes in Lifestyle 

   > DIET- Avoid to much eating junk foods , fatty foods , to much                           sugar  contains  in your drink and eating fresh foods                               vegtables and fruits ,eat smaller meals at a time 
  >Weight manegment- exess body weight cause many problem in                        your lifestyle ,loosing weight can reduce abdominal pressure
                  and lessen reflux 

  >Avoid sleeping just  after eating -  atleast 3 hours after eating                       before laying down on bed
  >Quit smoking - Quiting smoking is a chalenge but highly benificial 
                  for your health condition and reducing  smoking can 
                  improve LES(Lower Esophageal Sphincter) fuction.

2- GERD (Gastroesophageal Rflux Disease) Medication

Short Term- 
.Antacid -These can provide quick Relieve symptoms of GERD neutralizes acid
EX- Aluminium Hydroxide ,Magnesium Carbonate, Calcium Carbonate 
.H2 Receptor Blockers - These reduce acid production and provide longer relief than antacid 
Long Term-
.Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPI)
These are stronger acid blockers that help heal the esophagus 
Lower parietal cells HCL production 
EX- Omeprazole, Pentaprazole
BRAND NAME - OMEE, PAN 40 , PANTOSEC ...ETC
.Prokinetics -These help the stomach empty more quickly and reduce acid reflux 

3-Surgery:

.For those who don't respond to lifestyle changes and medication surgical option like fundoplication or LINX device implantation can be considered

if you experience symtoms of GERD more than twice a week, have feel difficulty swallowing, or notice pesistent nausea or vomiting it is crucial to seek medical advice . untreated increase the risk of esophageal cancer
